Good Morning,
North Lincs Council discretionary grant
NLC has opened the discretionary grant for application. You can apply here.
- Grants are a maximum of £2,100 per 28 day period, and meant for those "significantly impacted" by the lockdown that are not eligible for the Closed business grant
- If you have received a discretionary grant payment in November, you will NOT need to re-apply
- NLC is doing a payment run today businesses should be paid, hopefully by next week.
Helpful tips for discretionary grant application:
- These grants will be decided based on the information you provide - please take as much time as you can to fill them in accurately.
- You should specify how lockdown has impacted your business - such as if your business has a close "supply chain" relationship with a closed industry.
- You may want to include reasons such as why the businesses you have lost during lockdown can not be replaced.
- You should also try to include information such as business' "fixed costs" (insurance costs, premise mortgages, vehicle and equipment maintenance, and monthly bills that continue to be incurred during the lockdown.)
Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG)
- Please apply for the Local Restrictions Support Grant here instead if your business
- a. has a premise with a rateable value, and
- b. has been asked to close
- NLC has made clear that this is also eligible for community buildings and village halls, and have asked trustees and management groups of those buildings to apply. If you know of anyone please let them know.
- Please note that if you have received LRSG in November you do not have to re-apply.
- You can apply for the LRSG here.
Culture Recovery Fund
The Arts Council England has released round 2 of their Culture Recovery Fund.
- This fund is for cultural organisations (both profit and not for profit), provided most of your work takes place in England.
- More Information about applications can be found here and here.
Tied-pub tenants
The Pubs Code Adjudicator has released an open letter to tied tenants of the regulated pub companies, where she sets out details on where it may be possible for tenants to gain support. The full letter can be found here.
Reminder: Upcoming Deadlines!
Just a reminder that the deadline for the SEISS is drawing nearer.
- Self-employed: The SEISS deadline for the third round of support is 29th January 2021. More information and how to apply can be found here.
- Furlough: If employers have already submitted their claim for December, but now need to make a change because they didn’t claim enough, they can increase the amount of their claim for December up until Thursday 28 January. Further details for this can be found on GOV.UK.
Upcoming Hospitality Roundtable with Minister
I will be attending another roundtable with BEIS Minister Paul Scully to discuss concerns on behalf of our local pubs and the hospitality sector next week. This is similar to the Weddings roundtable I attended last month.
Based on what local hospitality businesses have told me so far, I will try and raise with the Minister:
- The need for support for closed businesses with higher fixed costs
- The need for Ministers to urgently work on an "exit roadmap" for hospitality
In addition to the points above, I have raised the following with the government:
- Further extend the reduced VAT rate (I have previously pushed for the current extension)
- Extend Business Rates Holiday
You will also be pleased to know that I am working with neighbouring MP Andrew Percy to support our breweries.
As ever, do let me know if there is anything else I need to keep in mind ahead of the roundtable. Similar to the previous roundtable I will try and provide an update in my next Business Update.
You may have heard that I have asked the Health Secretary to explain more about the Oxford vaccine roll out and how that will impact towns and villages in areas such as ours. I will be having further conversations with our local health team to support them on this.
Take care,
Holly
