I'm thrilled to announce that this Summer Reading Challenge year's challenge will begin with a fantastic free day of open-air sports and games for families in Scunthorpe town centre. The 'Ready, Set, Read' event will be held on Saturday 15 July, starting at 12pm outside Scunthorpe Central.
Children and young people are also being encouraged to register for this year's 'Ready, Set, Read' Summer Reading Challenge at their local library. The theme of the challenge is all about reading, sport, and play, and aims to keep children's minds and bodies active over the summer break.
The challenge runs from Saturday 1 July until Saturday 9 September 2023, in all of North Lincolnshire's libraries and community hubs, where you can register for the scheme at your local library or community hub, and read six books over the summer.
If you would like your child or children to take part in this year's fantastic challenge, visit the Summer Reading Challenge website https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/ for more information or go along to your local library to find out more and register. You must also be a library member to participate, but it is free to join!
This is a great opportunity to keep young people engaged and excited about reading over the summer, as well as a fantastic challenge to get involved with!
