Our community in Scunthorpe is one of the best, and we need to make sure that it stays this way.
This is why it's such fantastic news to hear that, after advocating for increased funding from the Government, a wide range of local organisations and authorities under the Community Safety Partnership are able to help deliver the Safer Streets Initiative using £500,000 of Government cash.
We can't turn a blind eye to the challenges that our areas face, and the Safer Streets initiative looks to tackle these issues head on. Progress has already been made, with the clearing of fly-tipped waste well underway in the Crosby & Park Town Wards, as well as CCTV installation in the area. This is only the beginning, and I want to thank the Community Safety Partnership for their fantastic work to support Scunthorpe. I look forward to seeing this continue!
