Today, I visited Pancreatic Cancer UK in Parliament today to learn more about the devastating disease and raise awareness.
Pancreatic cancer is a truly terrible disease. Incredibly brave people in our constituency have told me their stories of loved ones that have passed away due to the illness, and the five-year survival rate from diagnosis remains tragically low.
It was a real privilege to meet NHS nurse Becki who not only prepares patients for life-saving operations, but had one herself to remove the cancer in her pancreas. Both Becki and the charity are driving a campaign to improve diagnosis, which I have supported in the past by raising with Ministers and NHS England.
I will continue to work with them and local residents to ensure people get the treatment they need at the right time.
