I am delighted to say that Humberside Police have achieved ‘Outstanding’ outcomes in the vast majority of policing areas in the latest report by His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services. This makes our police service one of the very best in the country and is a huge upgrade on the ‘Requires Improvement’ result in the Inspectorate’s 2017 report!
Everyone in the force deserves credit for this report. The inspection does not just test the strategies and capabilities in place to stop crime, but also the work done to treat the public well and protect the vulnerable. From the frontline to management, there has been a substantial improvement in outcomes. I want to thank all our police officers and those who work in the police service for the efforts they’ve undertaken.
Since 2019, the force has benefited from 322 more officers and in my regular discussions with police officials - raising residents’ cases and seeking asks of the Government- I know they are committed to preventing anti-social behaviour and serious crime. I will be writing to Chief Constable Lee Freeman and Police and Crime Commissioner Jonathan Evison shortly to ask them to continue the good work.
