Question to Business Secretary on local Liberty Steel concerns

Thursday, 25 March, 2021

Today, I asked the Business Secretary to commit to doing everything he can to support our local Liberty Steelworkers. I was pleased to hear that the Secretary is working with local stakeholders to make this happen.

Having visited Liberty Steel last year I know how important the site is locally and given the circumstances our Steelworkers will be rightly concerned. I have been engaging with the Government on this for some time and took the opportunity today to ask the Business Secretary to reassure our local steelworkers.

As it stands many of the discussions are understandably commercially sensitive and I will continue to work with the government to ensure that our Liberty steelworkers are supported. If you are affected and have individual concerns please do get in touch with me directly via my email or my contact form https://www.hollymumbycroft.org.uk/contact
