Construction work will begin on a major infrastructure project after £4.5m of Government cash was approved to develop a new junction on the M181.
Known as the “northern roundabout”, the scheme will be built on Brumby Common Lane and will open up land for the building of new homes, the growth of new businesses and reduce congestion across Scunthorpe, particularly at Berkeley circle.
Once the junction is complete, work is anticipated to start on building homes and more than 60 acres of prime commercial land will become accessible - creating opportunities for local business to expand and for new investment and jobs to locate in North Lincolnshire.
The Government’s Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (GLLEP) approved the cash from its Growth Deal fund. The move has been described as the “next piece of the jigsaw” in improving the infrastructure across Scunthorpe.
