Virtual apprenticeship fair

I am very pleased that North Lincs Council have taken on my suggestion to hold an "apprenticeship fair", so that young people and businesses in our area can benefit from these opportunities.

As someone with family members currently studying as apprentices, I know how important these schemes are in helping young people find and excel in their career path.

Whilst we were not able to hold a physical expo due to coronavirus, a virtual event has been put in place.

The expo will be held on Wednesday, 19 August from 9am to 4.30pm. There will be two key webinars during the event:

The first, from 11.30am to 12.30pm, is aimed at individuals interested in the council’s latest apprenticeship vacancies, especially within the engineering industry.

The second, from 2pm to 2.30pm, is aimed at businesses considering employing an apprentice and wish to know more about the processes involved.

To register your interest and to join in one of the webinars, please send your name and contact details to

Apprenticeship expo goes virtual: Take your first career steps NOW

Young people and businesses owners will come together for a virtual apprenticeship expo designed to showcase the employment opportunities available across the area.

North Lincolnshire Council is hosting the virtual apprenticeship for people looking to become an apprentice and businesses seeking to employ them.

Almost 750,000 people are involved in apprenticeships nationally. This event will showcase the huge number of opportunities available to young people across the region.

The expo will be on Wednesday, 19 August from 9am to 4.30pm. People can access webinars, a range of information in relation to apprenticeships and get questions answered.

Two separate webinars have been organised.

Cllr Waltham said “These events will really help young people who are looking for opportunities to become an apprentice within North Lincolnshire and businesses looking to employ those young people.

“Taking that first step on a career path is often the most difficult but there is whole range of information and advice available.

“We’d normally be holding these events in person but clearly under the circumstances of Covid-19 we have created a digital version of the event and we are hoping it might actually attract more people.

“Apprenticeships are a brilliant opportunity for an individual to gain experience within a work environment while being able to further their education and obtain a qualification as well as get paid.

“There are a number of organisations within North Lincolnshire who offer apprenticeships to young people, including North Lincolnshire Council, as we recognise the potential that apprenticeships can bring to our workforce.”

To register your interest and to join in one of the webinars, please send your name and contact details to apprenticeshipsupport@northlincs.gov.uk. You can also submit any questions you may have about apprenticeships, either before or during the event.
