The government has today unveiled a £1 billion Building Safety Fund to support the replacement of unsafe cladding. This will apply to both private and social housing buildings that are 18 metres and over.
Housing Minister Robert Jenrick has wrote to MPs with more detail, and I am happy to share this with you below. There is also a government statement online here.
The aim of this Fund is to remove the financial burden from safe external cladding. All building owners are encouraged to try and get funds from other sources before they apply to this fund, however this money is here due to the high costs facing leaseholders at the moment.
Building owners, freeholders or those responsible for building safety should apply from the 1st June on the following webpage: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/remediation-of-non-acm-buildings
I encourage you to look over the eligibility criteria here, and please be wary that you may have to provide evidence for your building's height and materials.
